- Supporting the Premier and Cabinet with expert policy advice informed by data, evidence and consultation, and a focus on the bigger picture
- Solving complex policy problems for the people of NSW
This is an exceptional opportunity to lead in a range of strategic policy areas with state-wide influence.
About us
The Cabinet Office ( TCO) operates at the heart of NSW Government, supporting decision-making by providing expert, evidence based policy, legal and governance advice. TCO coordinates, and at times leads, policy reform to deliver on the Government’s priorities, working in partnership with other government agencies. In addition to its policy and strategy work, TCO acts as steward of the NSW Cabinet system, upholding Cabinet conventions and good Cabinet practice to support good government decision-making.
The role
As Deputy Secretary, Policy, you will lead a highly capable team responsible for coordinating complex policy initiatives that impact communities across the State. You will guide the development of high-quality, evidence-based advice and support whole-of-government strategy and reform. This role requires strong engagement with the most senior members of the Government, senior officials in NSW and other governments and non-government stakeholders.
About you
We are seeking a proven executive leader with a strong record in strategic public policy development and reform. A deep understanding of the government authorising environment, including Cabinet, budget and parliamentary processes, public sector governance, and the ability to influence, consult and partner at senior levels will be key to your success. You will bring a collaborative leadership style, a commitment to the public interest, and the ability to lead teams and the sector through complexity and change. Finally, you will have exceptional capability in leading and developing high-performing policy teams, driving a culture founded on collaboration and respect to deliver outcomes for the people of NSW.
