About our Disability Practice

Since the creation of the NDIS in 2014, government spending has continued to increase and has reached $48.7 billion per annum with ongoing growth expected, amid reform efforts designed to manage expenditure.

Approximately 5.5 million Australian’s report living with disability and are supported by a sector employing almost 200,000 people in 25,000 organisations nationally. The National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) through its provider organisations support 600,000 Australians living with disability.

The maturation of governance models and increasing regulatory pressure on providers has fundamentally changed the nature of talent across the sector. With turnover reaching 25% in the sector due to high-workloads and a substantial part of the workforce casualised or part-time, there is a constant need to recruit care workers, adding to the burden of managing organisations.

Grappling with pressures of margin compression, regulatory change, staff engagement, industrial relations and growing workforce needs, services of the future can achieve operational efficiencies with strategic alliances, advanced technology integrations and deeper employee retention strategies.

At Orchard, we help organisations negotiate these complexities by appointing high-calibre corporate, clinical and operational talent.

With a steadfast focus on the appointment of high-calibre corporate, clinical and operational talent, Orchard continues to support the strengthening of the sector through reducing time-to-hire and increasing retention. Our commitment to a strong, stable sector is resolute from board to frontline.
