Aged Care
About our Aged Care Practice
Over 1,800 organisations employing over 335,000 people make up Australia’s $36.4 billion residential aged care sector alone. The sector is experiencing substantial growth and transformation, driven by an ageing population, evolving care requirements and greater demand for in-home care services.
Australians are living longer, growing the population of older Australian’s requiring care into their later years. Changing consumer preferences and the introduction of the government’s Support at Home program will bring further changes to the market including easing entry barriers, increasing specialised service demand, and delivery of more focused services by existing providers. Tackling the increasing demand, financial and regulatory pressures has seen the market respond with substantial shifts in ownership structures and service offerings.
The aged care workforce remains a critical issue. Attracting and retaining qualified, skilled, and experienced staff continues place pressure on leaders. New requirements for mandated care models and higher acuity care needs further exacerbate the need for a larger, more capable workforce within the confines of restrained funding and an evolving regulatory landscape. New capabilities to support operational efficiencies and the creation of dynamic, innovative operating models are more essential than ever before.
The evolving landscape of the aged care sector has been materially central to Orchard’s approach since our inception in 2017. We’ve supported organisations through unprecedented change through linking public expectation and policy to a position of workforce understanding. We have worked with over 100 organisations in the sector to refresh their talent strategy from board to frontline, rebuilding contemporary capability and driving better outcomes commercially, culturally and importantly, in the care for older Australians.
